ASK WYATT
How Long Does It Really Take to Build a Pool in Naples?
"I always tell homeowners to plan for the whole process, not just the days when we're actually building."
Wyatt's Quick Answer
For a custom pool in Naples, the entire process can take several months from the initial planning and design through completion.
The construction itself is only part of the timeline. Before we start digging, there are plans, engineering, permitting, approvals, scheduling, and preparation that all have to happen.
Every project is different, but my biggest advice is simple: give yourself some time and don’t plan around an overly aggressive timeline.
Wyatt’s Tip
If you have a date you’re working toward, tell your builder about it at the very beginning.
Whether it’s a vacation, a family gathering, or simply wanting the pool ready for a certain season, knowing that upfront helps us plan the project more realistically.
The Full Answer From Wyatt
One of the first questions homeowners ask once they start thinking seriously about a pool is:
“Wyatt, how long is this actually going to take?”
And I completely understand.
You’ve made the decision to build a pool, you’ve picked out the design, and you’re ready to see it in the backyard.
But there’s an important distinction between the construction timeline and the entire pool-building process.
There’s More Before Construction Than You Might Think
The day we start digging is not the first day of the project.
Before construction begins, there’s planning, design, engineering, permitting, approvals, material selection, and scheduling.
All of those pieces have to come together before we’re ready to break ground.
That’s why I tell homeowners to think about the project as a process rather than just counting the days of construction.
Every Backyard Is Different
I also don’t like giving homeowners one number and telling them that’s exactly how long their project will take.
Your property is different from your neighbor’s.
The design, size, features, materials, site conditions, permitting, and other factors can all affect the timeline.
A straightforward pool and a more involved backyard project aren’t going to follow exactly the same schedule.
That’s why a realistic timeline is more useful than a promise.
Plan Backward From What Matters to You
If there’s a particular date you’re hoping to have your pool finished by, tell us early.
Maybe you’re hosting family for the holidays. Maybe you have friends coming into town. Maybe you’re planning around the summer.
The sooner we know what you’re working toward, the better we can talk through what’s realistic.
I would much rather set the right expectations at the beginning than have a homeowner feel disappointed because someone promised a timeline that wasn’t realistic.
Don’t Rush the Parts That Matter
Building a pool is a major investment, and I don’t think the goal should be to build it as quickly as possible.
The goal should be to build it correctly and create something you’ll enjoy for years.
There are a lot of decisions that happen before and during construction, and taking the time to get those decisions right is important.
So when someone asks me how long it takes to build a pool in Naples, my honest answer is:
Plan on several months for the overall process, and understand that every project has its own timeline.
Good planning at the beginning makes the rest of the project much easier.
